About the Institute

The International Institute of Preconstruction Professionals (IIPP)

The International Institute of Preconstruction Professionals (IIPP) was founded to redefine the role of preconstruction in the modern building process. We exist to provide formal recognition, structured training, and an elevated communityfor the professionals who lead projects before they begin.

For too long, preconstruction has lacked the clear standards and pathways that define other professional disciplines. IIPP is here to change that.

Through our industry-aligned certifications—CPre (Certified Preconstruction Professional) and CPreX (Certified Preconstruction Executive)—we’re building a trusted benchmark for excellence in preconstruction strategy, leadership, and execution.

But this isn’t just about credentials.

We’re creating a global network of professionals who are committed to growing, sharing knowledge, and raising the standard across the industry.Whether you're new to preconstruction or a seasoned leader, IIPP is your platform to level up, connect, and lead with confidence.

About the Founder

Brennan Knapp, REWO, CPreX
Founder, International Institute of Preconstruction Professionals
CPreX | VP of Preconstruction | Managing Partner | Reluctant Workaholic

I’ve spent over a decade in construction—on job sites, in estimating meetings, and in the late-night grind of making projects work before anyone breaks ground. As a Vice President of Preconstruction and founder of a labor brokerage firm, I’ve seen the same pattern over and over again:

Preconstruction professionals are doing some of the most critical thinking on a project— without the structure, training, or recognition they deserve.

So I built the International Institute of Preconstruction Professionals to fix that.

IIPP is my answer to a question I got tired of asking: Why isn’t there a place for us?
A place to grow, to be certified, to get better—and to connect with people who actually understand the weight we carry before the shovel hits the dirt.

This isn’t a side project.
It’s a standard.

And if you’re here, it means you’re ready to stop explaining what you do and start being recognized for it.

Welcome to the Institute. Let’s build something that lasts.
